Our glazing is done on-site by our own very experienced lab technicians meaning we can guarantee a high standard and speed of service.

We specialise in designer and unusual eyewear, as well as taking a particular interest in children and adults with special needs.

OUR HISTORY

What has become a business renowned for quality customer service and its unrivalled selection of frames from designer to budget had a slightly more humble beginning!

Aidan Walsh first qualified as an optician in 1973. As a recent graduate without much money, he started testing eyes in a caravan in his parents’ front yard in Ferbane. The waiting room was his Renault 4. No, we are not joking!

Once the “caravan business” was going well, he moved into a small room in the back of his father’s pharmacy in Ferbane. Throughout the 70s he began testing one day a week in Tullamore.

He went on to purchase a premises on Church Street in 1980 and set up shop there. The practice moved to William Street in 1990.

In 2004, Aidan returned to the family pharmacy and Eileen took over the running of the optical practice. Since then, the practice has continued as a family practice with their children Sammy, Killian and Eabha becoming involved over the past ten years.

We believe that the reason for our continuing success story rests in our dedication to quality eye care achieved by the exceptional expertise of our team. Our emphasis on superior standards of eye care and quality products was always our priority.

Since Eileen’s management of the practice, there has been an increased emphasis on the fashion side of optics. While continuing to maintain our original high standards, she succeeded in providing a selection of fashion frames unrivalled in Ireland.

We have continued with this trend and still travel extensively to optical exhibits and trade shows abroad, to make sure that the very latest trends reach Tullamore as quickly as Paris and Milan.
